It seems that there is pervasive equivocation regarding the period or movement in which we find ourselves. Perhaps these things are just given a name after the fact, or perhaps a name just needs to be given to this period in order to foment or actuate the movement.
Modernism set itself up for its untimely demise. The self defeating movement had to be replaced, and at the time, Post-Modernism served as an adequate substitute; however, just as Modernism reached a state of obsolescence, so has its successor. The equivocation arises by virtue of this. The proverbial question remains, "are we in Post-Post-Modern times?" The answer would be, "well, yes, we are 'Post'-Post Modern." This appellation is excessive, ambiguous, and nondescript. All one would glean from this moniker is that this is the movement which succeeded the movement which succeeded modernism. Moreover, a new movement need not exist merely to put another movement to an end. The prefix “Post-“ indicates the circumstance of sequence alone. A movement with post in the title does nothing to establish itself as being of greater importance. It merely comes after something that could be as equally important, as equally superfluous, or something more.
The objective here is to create a period or movement that is greater in comparison to the preceding movements, to separate itself in importance, and to go beyond such systems of categorization. It is impossible to completely avoid making references to the preceding systems, but essentially, that is what this new movement is attempting to do. It attempts to go beyond all modernity, even the "post" variety. For this reason, the prefix “Meta-“ is integral for the title. This is a self-aware movement. Rather than including "Modernity," in an effort to distance itself from these systems, any reference to these systems will be excluded from the title. This does not limit the ideals and ideologies of the movement; rather, it places the movement within a descriptive framework.
To mirror the age we are entering, the nature of this manifesto will be constantly recreated through wiki-format, where the ensuing aphorisms are subject to change. This will allow the movement to avoid a state of obsolescence, unless, a possible future update intentionally causes its obsolescence, which may also cause its dissolution and disappearance. It need only be erased. The purpose is to create a living, viable document which can adapt to the vicissitudes of our human experience. This can be rather daunting as a creator of the movement to know that after the inception of it, I may not maintain a tight reign over my own creation. In order to coincide with the ethos being established, it is absolutely necessary.
The intention is to connect creators and visionaries who are convicted and committed to transcending the imperfect systems of our past and move toward the movement to go beyond all other movements whose appellation shall be known as the Meta Movement. So, join the movement, shape the movement, or at least stand out of the way of its momentum.
